I am a petrol head.  Performance cars are my passion.  I love the technology and the emotion that comes with such vehicles and as a result I spend far too much money on them!  I am still yet to comes to terms with the loss of the beautiful symphony a V8 engine delivers.

PETROL RUNS THROUGH MY VEINS

I have enjoyed cars since the day I was born and driving since I was able to reach the pedals!   After passing my drivers test, I took lessons with the police to pass my advanced driving test.

It would be fair to say I prefer something a little different.  Ford XR's, long before the ST models, Honda VTEC engines, Toyota's MR2 and Celica models, and some British brut with a few TVR's - just to name a few.  Now it's a bit more German, specifically the performance models of Mercedes AMG and the BMW M's.  Since a friends dad has a silver BMW 3.0CS (or CSi I cannot remember precisely) I have always held that car and the brand close.

The difference in the feel of a car built to be driven above anything else is to me something very enjoyable.  It's not just about power and performance but there is an emotion and engagement with the car that makes every trip special.  Small percent point improvements in the details, in materials, in construction, in design, and in set up, make the car 100% better.

Recently I drove a "high performance" battery electric vehicle.  It might be technically advanced but as a drivers car, a car to enjoy the journey with, it had nothing.  Absolutly nothing.  So while still available and while I can, I will be buying cars that put a smile on my face.

Don't worry, there is an electric car in the mix, but it's not mine!

FULL MERCEDES EXPERIENCE

AMG Factory, Mercedes Factory and Mercedes Museum

April 2018 I was lucky enough to visit the AMG factory in Affalterbach for a personal tour.  This is only possible as an AMG owner, so something very special.  To see the attention given to the engine builds and AMG car personalisation was something very special.

The following day I visited the Mercedes Factory tour in Sindelfingen, near Stuttgart.  We walked the body pressing floor to see S Class panels pressed and assembled, and the assembly floor where the cars become real.  For me a it was a fascinating visit.

To conclude the visit and Mercedes experience, it was off to the Mercedes Museum.  Full of art for a petrol head!

HEAR THE ROAR, HEAR THE MUSIC!

The last car, the Koenigsegg at the end of the video, is the bench mark.  EV's how are you going to replace this emotion?
