Ad Blockers
Ad blockers are a common browser extension. The problem is that many services, especially critical free services rely on ad revenue. Without this revenue, because the ads are blocked, these services could not survive. Indeed, some sites are blocking content or access unless you turn off your ad blocker.
But is this actually the real problem? I think the real problem is that;
Ads are too intrusive on many services. Website designers please stop wreaking the experience, make ads less intrusive and less annoying,
Ads are not well designed for the platform - often video ads are TV first and the "it'll work on the Internet" mentally isn't always right. Agencies, get your message over in five seconds, my time is too valuable.
Until then, thanks for ad blockers and the skip button!
